Our Furniture Has Arrived!

The furniture arrived last week and we have been busy unpacking the MANY boxes that arrived.  There were 438 items in the moving trucks that needed to be unloaded.  It only took them 5 hours to unload all the items. They were really good.  Every item had a number on it.  They would come and tell me what number they had and I would mark it off on the sheet they gave me, then I would tell them what room to put it in.  Things went very smoothly.  Of course they had to bring the furniture on the coldest day of the year.  The temperature was -11c with a wind chill factor of -20c !!  With both doors needing to be open for the movers, the house got very cold!  I was in a sweater and my long bath robe as I marked off the numbers.

After the movers left, we took a look around the house to see what needed to be done.  Ron and I just looked at each and burst out laughing!  Where did all this stuff come from?  We were so happy that we had the garage built otherwise all of our things would not fit!

We have been unpacking for days and have finally got many of the rooms set up.  It looked nice to have all our things set up.  It was especially nice to not have to sit on stools and lawn furniture any more!  Unfortunately it only stayed nice for about 5 minutes, then we brought all the boxes in from the garage that had our Christmas decorations in.  All of a sudden our nice clean rooms were filled with boxes again!

We now have our Christmas tree up and all the decorations are spread about the house.  It feels like Christmas in the Huybers household.

Christmas in PEI is pretty special.  Everyone really gets into the Christmas spirit.  All the houses are lit up with Christmas lights and lawn ornaments.  You can’t help but have a smile on your face while looking at them.  Several people around town have told me that if you really want to see Christmas lights you must go to North Rustico.  They really have great light displays.  We will head out there in the next week or so and I will make sure to take photos to share with you.  But that is for another blog.
